Significant rain in surrounding catchments floods into these endorheic salt lakes creating a play of colour and light, highly reflective surfaces, and captivating patterns amongst the glistening, pure white or pink salt crust. Each lake has it's own character and unique environment, defined by weather, the light, location and local wildlife. Lake Eyre, and Lake Gairdner are two of the largest in Australia.
